Similar Likes And Dislikes

Here at FlashLove, we're all about finding the right person as fast as possible. Those of you who are looking for a quick solution to your love conundrum at home will be glad to know that there's a faster test of compatibility than locking yourselves in the Nema Enclosures compound by accident for a weekend. All you have to do is compare likes and dislikes. We're not talking about the small stuff, like ice cream flavors or favorite TV shows though, we're talking major factors that can make or break a relationship. Such as:

Lifestyle

There are many definitions of the word "lifestyle" so we'll clarify. In our book, there are two types of lifestyle: urban, suburban, and rural. If you're an investment banker in downtown Toronto, chances are your relationship with a specialist in landscape design in Kitchener won't work out. Why? Because you love the fast paced city live and he or she likes a connection to nature. You'd never agree on where to live.

Religion

Religion is a hot button topic. Some couples from different religions can make it work by being open minded or by never bringing up the issue, but if you or your sweetie is a devout believer it's unlikely you'll be able to respect the other's choices. It'd be like combining oil and water or Global SIM Cards and hard rocks. Better, perhaps, if you're not a fan of debate, to select a partner with the same views.

Music

Many people are open minded enough to love somebody with completely different musical tastes, but in certain cases musical differences can lead to cracks in your relationship. Picture, for instance, listening to Celtic music for 7 hours on your drive to visit relatives because your spouse won't listen to anything else. Can you say "grounds for divorce?" In the same way, shared love of a song or band can morph into love for one another.

Jobs

You don't necessarily have to have the same job as your potential soul mate, or even a job in the same industry, though if you do there are guaranteed topics of conversation. There are Toronto wedding photographers who are happily married to aerospace engineers. Dog trainers in life partnerships with chartered accountants. It can work, just look out for deal breakers where their chosen profession clashes with your life goals or personal convictions. Could a PETA activist love a seal hunter? Would it work if foreign aid worker married a domestic real estate agent? Maybe, but approach with caution.
